If a picture is worth a thousand words, how many is a celebrity Instagram picture worth? A million? That would appear to be the case after a photo with Big Boi featuring a seemingly dreadless Lil Wayne went viral. The Internets were set ablaze with rumors and blog posts dispensing misinformation that the YMCMB head honcho had indeed cut his signature dreads.
Luckily for MTV News, contributor Kelly L. Carter was able to verify firsthand that the I Am Not A Human Being II MC still possessed his flowing locks.
"I'm pretty sure he still had his dreads and they were pulled back in a ponytail," Carter told MTV News Friday (February 2). "In fact, I'm like 1,000 percent positive. I would've noticed that."
Carter sent MTV News exclusive photos that she took while at Thursday night’s EA Madden Bowl pre-Super Bowl party in New Orleans, confirming that Weezy’s wig was still intact. To be fair, Tunechi’s hair was pulled back in the picture and, from the front, it appeared that he’d done the unthinkable. But upon closer inspection, that same photo reveals hair poking out near his neck.
One thing that can’t be disputed about the picture is this: Wayne was sporting a band-aid on his face, reportedly from a skateboarding accident. The heavily-tattooed New Orleans native performed for hordes of football aficionados. His set list included hits such as “John” and “She Will,” from his ninth studio LP, Tha Carter IV.
