Wow, Jay-Z wasn’t kidding when he said he was one of "The Originators." Thanks to a photo released by the New York Public Library's Schomburg Center (via Buzzfeed) "The Great Gatsby" soundtrack’s executive producer can be seen putting it down as early as 1933.
Of course, it’s not the "real" Hov, but he’s definitely the hip-hop mogul’s doppelganger. The man in the black and white photo, which was unearthed by the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, is perched on a gate in Harlem, dressed dapper and casually cool with the same urbane demeanor as Marcy’s finest.
Jokingly, many said that Jay, who at the age of 43 mathematically can’t be the same guy, had managed to travel back in time to pose “photo shoot fresh” for the picture, but that's about as silly as the rumors that he was part of the Illuminati.
Present day Jay-Z was seen recently at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts for the world premiere of Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby,” which opened in theaters nationwide today (May 10).
